SQL Newbie use of SQL Server Recovery
I am guessing that many people who might search for and find this tool would be "wanna-be" SQL admins/expert. It appears that the tool that was downloaded has pulled the data from the corrupted ('suspect' as noted by MSDE 200) mdf file and made it available.
The product was quite easy to use: - clear & easy to use GUI to select mdf to be scanned - easy to see (once you read the folder contents) on what to do for recovery - worked quite fast on databases - does need some instructions for recovery steps (see remainder)1
However, as a wanna-be admin, I am struggling with recovering the data to the database. I was able to view the recovered files and the BAT file to do the recover but the recovery failed due to being unable to login into the d/b.
Many reasons exist and many avenues were pursued to attempt to resolve this. It almost appears as though the d/b is too corrupt. The MASTER for that server instance probably is not corrupt because I can log into it with a trusted connection but not into the specific one to be able to recover. I could not log into the d/b to be recovered with a trusted connection even though I can see it the log of its original connection that it was created with trusted connections.
So, althought the tool has helped recover the data, my knowledge is too little about SQL management to know what to do. I will probably have to uninstall the application and reinstall it to create a new database and then I will attempt the recover.
